Performance analysis of distributed mapping system in ID/locator separation architectures

چکیده
An ID/locator separation architecture is one of the most recognized technologies that enable the Future Internet. In ID/locator separation architecture, an ID/locator mapping system is indispensable to provide location management in mobile environments. This paper conducts a comparative study on two different ID/locator mapping approaches: centralized and distributed ID/locator mapping systems. We develop analytical models on the signaling cost incurred in location update and location query procedures of the centralized and distributed ID/locator mapping systems. Numerical results demonstrate that the distributed ID/locator mapping system with enhanced distributed hash table (DHT) has comparable signaling cost to the centralized ID/locator mapping system while providing higher scalability and robustness. & 2013 Elsevier Ltd. Implementing the Locator/ID Separation Protocol: Design and experience
During the last few years, the network research community and the industry have been working on the design of an alternate Internet Routing Architecture aiming at solving the issues arising in the current architecture. It is widely accepted that applying a Locator/ID Separation paradigm would result in a more scalable and flexible architecture. As the name suggests, in Locator/ID Separation the...
متن کاملLocator/ID Separation Protocol Alternative Logical Topology (LISP+ALT)
This document describes a simple distributed index system to be used by a Locator/ID Separation Protocol (LISP) Ingress Tunnel Router (ITR) or Map-Resolver (MR) to find the Egress Tunnel Router (ETR) that holds the mapping information for a particular Endpoint Identifier (EID). The MR can then query that ETR to obtain the actual mapping information, which consists of a list of Routing Locators ...
متن کاملHMS: A Hierarchical Mapping System for the Locator/ID Separation Network
The current Internet is facing serious scalability problems and the overloading of Internet Protocol (IP) addresses is regarded as an important reason. The Locator/ID Separation Protocol (LISP) is proposed as a network-based solution that separates IP addresses into Routing Locators (RLOCs) and Endpoint Identifiers (EIDs) to address the routing scalability problems. It is a critical challenge f...
متن کاملLISP-Click: A Click implementation of the Locator/ID Separation Protocol
The network research community has recently started to work on the design of an alternate Internet Architecture aiming at solving some scalability issues that the current Internet is facing. The Locator/ID separation paradigm seems to well fit the requirements for this new Internet Architecture. The principle of this paradigm is to separate the identification part from the localization one. In ...
متن کاملDesign and Implementation of Mapping Systems for an ID/Locator Split Protocol for New Generation Network
We are proposing Z Network Protocol (ZNP) as a network layer protocol based on ID/Locator split approach in the future Internet. ZNP is designed to satisfy the following requirements in terms of practical operation: (1) support of L3 protocol heterogeneity, (2) scalability of ID/Locator mapping system, (3) independence of mapping information management, and (4) avoidance of locator leakage beyo...
